November 11 2010

Today was a cool 51 degrees when I left the house. Not bad actually. I rather enjoy the cooler weather. Even though I hail from Orange County, land of the 70 degree year, I always enjoyed the fall and winter the most. I don't know if it is the comfort of being bundled up or just loving to wear sweats, sweatshirts, and socks. Who knows. Anyway, on to tea..

Nick has picked the tea out again today. And he seems to be picking the teas he knows I don't like as much! Hmm.

Tea: Good Earth Energizing Black Tea (Mate and Citrus)
Like?: I didn't like this tea in the beginning I think because the citrus threw me off. But I am learning to like it more each time I drink it.
Where to buy: Safeway or other grocery stores. Good Earth can be a little pricey too. $3.99-$4.99
Quote: "The whole life of man is but a point of time; let us enjoy it." Plutarch 46 AD - 120 AD
Grade: B+

The aroma of this tea is quite strong. It is a citrusy flavor, more lemony and orange than anything. It has a tangy taste too. This tea tastes while like a lemon tea I have had. I am perplexed by this "energizing" part of the title, this tea doesn't exactly energize me. I notice that sometimes when I drink this tea it leaves my throat a little dry and scratchy. I know the caffeine from the black tea can make you thirsty but this tea in particular does this to me.

I really like this quote. I was standing in the kitchen this morning with Nick talking about the quote and he gave me a visual using his arm. He said the span of Earth is the length of his arm. The dinosaurs started about mid-bicep and went into the wrist. Humans started at the end of his fingertip and we are about to the end of the fingertip. Of course I asked, "What happens when we reach the end of the fingertip?!" Well anyway, this quote teaches us that in the span of history, our lives are but a mere short part. It is a humbling quote. It is also an awe-inspiring quote because it shows you how small we are compared to our Earth's history.

So I hope this was a good reflection for today.

Onto dinner...
Tonight we are having tofu nuggets, baked beans, and sweet potato fries. You can get the sweet potato fries and baked beans at Trader's, of course. We buy our tofu from the local Asian market, mostly because it's so cheap and they have so many varieties. My husband makes the absolutely best tofu nuggets. He is a master tofu nugget maker :) This is one of my favorite ways to eat tofu. Pair the nuggets with some BBQ sauce and it is delish! Love love love TJ's sweet potato fries. SOO GOOD! I like their baked beans too.

So that's it for today. Happy Veteran's Day to all those who have served our country. God Bless you and your families. Happy Thursday :)
